History of Sects in Christianity -
The word Christ means the savior and Christ's followers are called Christians. Mr. Jesus was one of the five arch prophets to whom God granted a separate law and book. Because the teachings of all the prophets sent by Allah used not to be always for the entire humanity but for the guidance of a specific nation or region.
And because he was also a prophet and a messenger and the Gospel was given to him, that is why he is called one of the arch Prophets in the Holy Quran. After Moses, when the Israelites began to change the Torah according to their own will and sell God's law for money, Christ highlighted their wrongdoings, challenged them, and therefore God revealed Gospel to you as a new law.
But the Jewish scholars, seeing that they had lost their authority and status at the hands of a young man, incited the idolatrous Roman ruler of that time to crucify him by falsely slandering Christ, but God miraculously raised them up to the heavens alive and at that time Christ His followers were only around 72. And his 12 companions preached Christianity after him.
And then, one by one, the Roman rulers adopted Christianity, so Christianity started spreading rapidly in the Middle East, because in that era, the religion of the king was the religion of the subjects, and people did not have religious freedom. A lot has changed with time in these 2000-year-old teachings and its original version has disappeared from the world.
And due to mutual differences, there are about 150 small and big sects in Christianity today, of which three are the biggest and most important. Among them, the biggest and most important denomination is called Catholicism. And due to furthermore mutual differences among the followers of this sect, a new sect of orthodox Christians was born.
Due to further mutual inconsistencies and differences between these two, the third-largest denomination of Protestant Christians came into existence. Thus like the Jews and the Muslims, the Christians also became divided into hundreds of sects due to mutual differences.
So today we will know how the beliefs of these three sects of Christianity differ from each other and what is their main difference. So let's take a brief look at some of the major Christian sects, who have been fighting each other in the past and even today their hands are stained with each other's blood.
Catholicism is the largest, first and oldest sect of Christians, which was founded by Christ's closest companion Simeon Peter Ben Jonah. A large number of followers of this sect are found in France, Spain, Italy and most of the countries of South Africa.
Peter is called the first pope of Christianity. He preached Catholicism for 25 years after Christ, but then during the reign of the Roman ruler Nero, he was crucified on the charge of spreading religious disorder. Until the blessed arrival of our beloved master SAW, even Christianity also meant Islam, but later various heresies were added to the Holy Gospel and thus Christianity was turned into polytheism.
Catholicism was further strengthened in the 4th century AD when the Roman Emperor Constantine I converted to Christianity. He declared Catholicism as the official religion of Rome and in the year 445 AD, a law was made that whoever will be the bishop of Rome will also be the head of the Western Church and he will hold the position of Pope until his death.
The power of a Catholic pope can be inferred by the fact that he can make changes to the Christian doctrines and faiths at will and his decisions are considered flawless. The center of the papacy is still the Vatican in Italy. From where even today the Pope issues orders to the followers of Catholicism.
Catholicism also prohibits its followers from advancing in science and technology, and many people who think outside of this ideology and violate this order also have been sentenced to death. In the books of Prophetic Ahadith, there is a story of my master SAW and one of his Companions who once objected to a verse of the noble Quran about the Christians and Jews and asked him for guidance.
Referring to a verse of the Holy Quran, he said that it is written that Jews and Christians considered their elders as their Lord, but we have not seen anything like that, no one considers them as their Lord.
My master said, "Didn't you people blindly follow and imitate these people with your closed eyes, and whatever came out of their mouths, you accepted as the truth without any objection and retreated from what they forbade. Then the companion agreed with him, so he said that this is what it means to accept someone as your Lord because these powers belong only to God.
With time the Christian Pope became so powerful that even the great emperors of great empires could not take decisions at their will. They even built their own separate palaces in the style of kings, where was nothing other than corruption, flattery, and conspiratorial elements.
Because of these autocratic popes, a large population of Europe was exposed to the Crusades and due to these reasons, the second major sect of Christians, the Eastern Orthodox Church, came into existence in the eleventh century AD. These people do not recognize the Christian Pope as their head or political leader and do not follow the laws implemented by him.
And only follow the basic teachings of Christianity i.e. the laws mentioned in the Holy Bible. It is the second largest denomination of Christianity after Catholicism and its followers are spread throughout Eastern Europe including Russia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Serbia and Ukraine.
At the beginning of the rise of this sect, there used to be a position called Patriarch in the Byzantine Empire and this was also called the head of orthodox people. After the Ottomans' conquest of Constantinople, the Orthodox sect split into different branches. They also had separate churches of different disciplines established in the regions of Russia, the Balkans and Greece.
In the past, there was so much hatred between the Catholics and the Orthodox sects that when the conqueror Sultan Muhammad Khan attacked Constantinople, the center of the Orthodox sect, the Catholic states did not help them, while the Orthodox Christians also preferred to go under the control of Muslims instead of seeking help from them.
Today, about 30 million people in the world are associated with the teachings of this sect. These people are quite orthodox, they consider images forbidden, they also fast and they consider the saints of their churches to be reliable. At the beginning of the 16th century AD, another major new sect of Christians emerged, which the world knows today as Protestants.
Until the 16th century AD, the debauchery and riots of the Christian priests were at their peak. These people used to send their enemies on the Crusades while taking the required amount from their beloved people they used to distribute them the certificates of paradise. Even the great kings and viziers were also held hostage by the Christian Popes.
Raising a voice against them was considered to mean the destruction of both the world and the hereafter. In such a situation, a German priest named Martin Luther declared a rebellion against the Pope and founded a new sect based on intellectual and logical arguments. Pope Leo X of that time called Martin a temptation and his faith invalid.
His books were burned and his followers were killed, but after Martin's death, his sect spread rapidly and soon a large part of Europe joined his followers. Many wars have been fought in Europe between ancient Catholic sects and states with Protestant beliefs.
In which millions of people were killed and even today these two sects consider each other's followers to be excluded from the religious sphere and hellish. Today, Protestantism is the second largest denomination in Christianity by population, with more than a billion adherents.
These people are found in abundance in many countries of the world, including Europe and America. Apart from these three major Christian denominations, there is also a Jehovah's Witness sect which is strongly opposed to Roman Catholicism.
And they believe in one Almighty God by eliminating all Christian traditions. They do not believe that Christ is the Son of God. A large number of its followers live in America which is about 10 million.
So my beloved brothers and sisters, this was all about the major sects of Christianity, apart from this, there are dozens of small and big sects in Christianity, which were unnecessary and impossible to describe in this only post. So that's it for today, see you in another new and interesting post.
